Website and online store maintenance
Your website works, but nobody looks after it. The system and plugins are old, nobody makes backups, and nobody knows when the SSL certificate expires. Updating feels risky.
I offer a monthly website maintenance plan for websites and online stores that are already running: €55/month + VAT. I do the work myself, so you talk to me directly. First I check your site and tell you in writing what I would do. This is free.
What the monthly plan includes
Every month:
- System and plugin updates. Old versions more often have known errors and security gaps that newer versions have already fixed.
- Backups. I make them so I can restore everything if needed.
- SSL certificate and error monitoring. SSL is what lets the address start with https and keeps the browser from showing a “Not secure” warning.
- SEO basics. SEO is how your site shows up in Google search. I look after titles and descriptions of new products and pages, and the sitemap (an XML file that lists your pages for search engines).
How maintenance works: backup, test copy, then changes
While I work, your shop runs as usual.
- I check and write to you. I tell you in writing what I would do and what it would cost. This is free.
- I make a backup. I copy the whole website and the database, so I can restore everything if needed.
- I work in a test copy. I make and test all changes in a test copy of your site, not in your live shop. Your shop runs as usual in the meantime.
- I move the changes. When everything is checked, I move the changes into your live shop.
An update made directly on a live shop can cause errors, so I test everything in a test copy first.
Platforms I work with
I work with WordPress (WooCommerce) and OpenCart, including very old versions such as OpenCart 1.5 and 2.x. If your site runs on PrestaShop, Magento, Joomla, Drupal or custom-built PHP, and the job can be done through the admin panel, the files or the database, I can most likely do it. If not, I will tell you right away.
Whether an old version can be upgraded depends on the shop. I decide after a check: see OpenCart upgrade.
For the work I need access to the admin panel, the website files (FTP or SFTP) and the database, for example through your hosting control panel (DirectAdmin, cPanel or Plesk).
For shop-specific work (cart, payments, shipping, products), see online store maintenance for OpenCart and WooCommerce.
Where this already works
For two years I have looked after six websites of a long-term client: siuvimomanija.lt, husqvarna-viking.lt, babylock.lt, elna.lt, siuvimomasina.lt and juki.lv.
siuvimomanija.lt is an OpenCart shop online since 2010. I updated it: shipping cost is calculated automatically, customers can pay by card, and the SEO is improved. Another old OpenCart shop, e.segris.lt, got a new look for phones and computers, fixed SSL, product descriptions in Lithuanian with photos and video, and SEO. See Past work.
When something breaks
Write to me what happened: the cart does not work, an error appears, or the browser warns “Not secure”. I check the site and tell you in writing what I would do and what it would cost, free of charge. Fixing errors is a separate job, described on the fixing errors page.
What monthly website maintenance costs
The website maintenance cost is €55/month + VAT. It covers everything listed above.
For any other work I first check the site and tell you in writing what it would cost. The price is agreed before I start, and you pay in instalments. We can issue a VAT invoice. For a business in another EU country with a valid VAT number (I check it in VIES, the EU’s VAT number check), the reverse charge applies: no Lithuanian VAT is added. Full terms.
Who this is not for
- If you have no working website yet and want someone to build one. I work only on websites and shops that are already running.
- If your site runs on Shopify, Wix or Squarespace. These systems do not give access to the files, so I do not work on them.
Questions
What does a website maintenance plan include?
A maintenance plan usually covers updates, backups and monitoring. Mine also covers SEO basics: titles and descriptions of new products and pages, and the sitemap.
Can you maintain a site that someone else built?
Yes, if it runs on a system I work with and I can get access. I check the site first. This is free.
Do you maintain Shopify, Wix or Squarespace sites?
No. These systems do not give access to the files, so I do not work on them.
What is the difference between website administration and maintenance?
Administration usually means everyday content work: products, pages and orders. Maintenance is the technical side: updates, backups, SSL and error monitoring. My monthly plan covers the technical side and the SEO basics.
